June 20, 2009 the Oregon Truck driving and SuperTech (mechanic) Championships were held in Portland Oregon. Oak Harbor had 5 people competing in the competition.

We are pleased to announce that Ricardo Vela and Mike Vallery both took first place in their categories and will be traveling to Pittsburg, PA and Raleigh, NC to represent Oak Harbor in the National Truck Driving and SuperTech (Mechanic) Championships.

 

During the TDC competition, each driver has a chance to demonstrate his or her driving and inspection skills, knowledge and professionalism through a series of tests. The drivers undergo a written examination, pre-trip inspection test and finally, the most visible - the skills test.  The ‘Supertech’, or Mechanic, competition is comprised of a written test and a hands-on diagnostics.
